Our Team

Dave Sterrett, Esq.

Dave Sterrett is an entrepreneur at heart with over 20 years of experience as an attorney. His journey mirrors the ups and downs of his clients—he’s launched businesses that failed, broke even, and succeeded. A decade ago, Dave bootstrapped his own law firm, funding it with credit cards and retirement account withdrawals, so he knows firsthand what it means to take risks and bet on your dreams.

Unlike many attorneys, Dave approaches his work through the lens of an entrepreneur first and a lawyer second. Having built and run his own small business, he brings a unique perspective and deep empathy to the challenges his clients face.

Dave’s M&A expertise was earned from the ground up. He didn’t learn dealmaking by working on a small piece of a transaction at a large firm—instead, he started by buying and selling small businesses. His first deal involved selling 200 head of Angus cattle for a client, followed by the sale of 50% of an auto repair shop. Since then, he’s closed dozens of deals totaling over $100 million, always carrying with him the lessons from those early days.

Today, Dave gets to balance his practice with life on 10 acres in rural Vermont. When he’s not helping entrepreneurs navigate their business journeys, you can find him skiing, rock climbing, paddleboarding, golfing, or taking his truck for a spin down backroads.
