Gucci and Forever 21 are in a trademark suit over Forever 21’s use of Gucci’s iconic green – red – green stripe pattern. Forever 21 has been using the pattern on clothing that closely resembles Gucci clothing. Gucci has a trademark registration for that stripe pattern dating back to the 1980s and has stated that Forever 21 is violating its trademark. Forever 21 has asked a court to cancel Gucci’s trademark registrations for stripe combinations stating that Gucci should not have a monopoly over stripe combinations.
